MONDAY ANNOUNCEMENTS

 

Bookstore (Holt; 2/27)

Information:  The following books will be available for purchase in the bookstore:

Crucible, $9.00, The Handmaid’s Tale $8.00, The Great Gatsby $10.00, The Great Expectations $5.50, Othello $2.50, and the Invisible Man $9.50…LIMITED SUPPLY WHEN THERE GONE THEY ARE GONE.

Driver Education Session (Tualla; 2/27)

The next Driver Education session will be on April 1. You can now begin to register for the class at the Moon Valley bookstore. Cost is $210 that can be paid by your parents school tax credit for 2017. A copy of your permit or driver license is required to register. There will be a limit of only 32 students so it will be first come first serve basis. Information can be picked up at your school front office or guidance office.

STUCO (Marshall; 2/27)

Everybody love Barbeque and Shane’s Rib Shack will be here every Monday to bring you’re their tasty barbeque. You will have the option to purchase a shredded barbeque sandwich or buffalo chicken strips with chips for $5.00.

Patriots are you ready to dance the night away at the glow out blow out dance? Pre-sale tickets will be sold for only $5 February 21st until March 3rd the day of the dance. Tickets will be $7 at the door. The dance will be from 7-10 pm.

Want to be a Pharmacist? (T.Starr; 2/27- 2/28)

Are you wondering what it is like to work as a Pharmacist?  Come Wednesday morning at 7:45 to the Media Center to hear from a registered Pharm D.  He will be talking about what it takes in college to earn a degree, what exactly he does and also the steps to become a Pharmacy Tech. 

Band/Orchestra/Colorguard Concert (Meldrum; 2/27- 3/2)

Come see your Independence Bands and Orchestra in action Thursday. March 2 at 7PM in the Auditorium.  Featured will be the Intermediate Band, Symphonic Band, Orchestra, Midnight Rider Jazz Band and the world premiere of the Independence Winter Colorguard.  Admission is FREE!

Sorry to announce that the April session will be limited to 16 students. Presently there are 12 already registered with only 4 openings left. The reason we are limiting this session is due to Mr. Bracciali having to go in to have spinal surgery this week and will be unavailable to help. The only session left this school year will be the summer session from May 30 to June 1. you can register for this session if you missed the cutoff for April 1.Mr. Tualla will call some of the April session to start doing the behind the wheel in March before class starts as he will be gone for 2 1/2 weeks to China and will drive the rest in May

The Chess Team and Club will be having it’s next business meeting THIS Thursday at 2:45 in Coach Bolton’s, Room B-24.  So plan to join our I.H.S. Chess Team in planning spring events and activities, including this year’s “spring training.”  Everyone is invited to join us and ALL current Chess players are expected attend.  On another note, congratulations to two of our Fabulous Chess players, Ethan Amaya and Kevin Romero who competed in the high school division of this past weekend’s “Rook’s Revenge” U.S.C.F. Tournament bringing home a 1st Place Individual’s Championship (Ethan Amaya) and 2nd Place Overall in Team Competition! Way to go Patriot Chess Nation!

From the Dean’s office:

Today is ID check day! Please take out your student ID and place it on your desk or table. Teachers please take a moment to high light the names of students who DO NOT have an ID to produce. Students, please take out your ID now. Just a reminder students, if you are assigned an after school detention in the cafeteria and choose not to attend you will be given a one day off-campus suspension. Don’t lose out! Make sure you take care of your business.
