MONDAY ANNOUNCEMENTS

 

Bookstore (Holt; till 5/05)

Information: The following books will be available for purchase in the bookstore: Jane Eyre; Beloved ; Fahrenheit 451; Great Gatsby; Othello; The Crucible; Night ; The Color of Water…LIMITED SUPPLY WHEN THERE GONE THEY ARE GONE.

Make A Wish (Cass; 11/5- 12-5)

The Independence campus collection of Santa letters for the Macy's Believe Campaign starts this week! One letter to Santa is a $1 donation from Macy's to the Make-A-Wish Foundation®, which "grant[s] the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy."  

Collection is November 5th - December 5th

Letters may be simple, but school appropriate.

Students may turn in letters to any teacher.

Our goal is 45,000 letters!

Key Club (Pampel; 11/13- 12/14)

Read One Fact Each Day:

Did you know 1 in 4 children in Arizona go to bed hungry at night?

Did you know 1 in 5 seniors in Arizona go to bed hungry at night?

Did you know 1 in 7 Arizonians go to bed hungry at night?

Did you know 1 dollar can provide seven meals?

Every Day:

Bring in your canned food items to classrooms with food drive boxes. If you bring in 6 cans to the attendance office, you can avoid a lunch detention.

WHERE: Faculty Cafeteria. Be sure to be there and ready to talk about our latest book

Tennis (Ziance; 12/3)

All those interested in tennis and are not in a winter sport open courts will be held on December 4 and December 5 and December 11 from 3pm to 4pm. See Coach Ziance (B18) or Coach Tracy (G2)!!

GCC ACE (Ms. Trezza; 11/20- 12/4)

Sophomores Only: The deadline for ACE applications has been extended! Glendale Community College (GCC) is offering free college classes through the ACE program. GCC came and did a presentation of all the information. If you missed it, see your counselor. The application is in the counseling department. Come and pick it up! The ACE application will be due Tuesday December 4th to your counselor. This is a scholarship program for free college classes at Glendale Community College and a great opportunity!

Patriot Hut (Munoz; 12/3)

The Patriot Hut now has more LUNCH APPROVED items to choose from.  We’ve got more chip flavors, new drink options and muffins, too.  Now that the weather is nice, meet your friends at the Hut for lunch!

STUCO (Marshall; 12/3)

Everybody love Barbeque and Shane’s Rib Shack will be here every Monday to bring you their tasty barbeque. You have the option to purchase a shredded barbeque sandwich or buffalo chicken strips with chips for $5.00.

AP Varsity Socail Studies Club (12/3)

Attention all AP Varsity Social Studies Club members! There will be a meeting today after school at 2:45 in the mini auditorium! We hope to see you all there!

Girls Soccer (Monaghan; 12/3)

The Lady Patriots Soccer team lost a hard fought battle to Sunnyslope Friday night with a score of 3-1. Putting up a goal for us was Andrea Abarca. Keep working ladies we will get there.

Anime Club (VanNatter; 12/4)

Attention Anime Club,

There will be a very important meeting today, after school in room B7. We will discuss this Saturday’s trip to LibCon. If you plan on attending with us, please see Mr. VanNatter for a permission slip. You must return your permission slip by the end of the day on Wednesday.

National Honor Society (Gaspar; 12/4)

Tomorrow, National Honor Society members will be looking to tutor any and all students. If you would like to be tutored in a low-stress, non-judgmental environment, go to the PACE Lab, media center, or see your teacher this Wednesday before and after school.

Come enjoy an evening of music, lights, and holiday cheer. This Friday, the Vocal Ensembles from all of the District schools will be performing a Holiday Concert at the Municipal Complex Amphitheater in Downtown Glendale. Cozy up for this free concert under the stars. It starts at 7:30. Hope to see you there!

Boys Soccer (S. Gomez; 12/5)

Last night the Boys Varsity soccer team started regular season play with a 8-2 victory over Apollo HS. Six different Patriots scored last night with Senior Diego Delgado leading the way with 3 goals. Senior’s Enrique Arellano, Alexis Mendoza and Carlos Fuentes added a goal, as did Juniors Ivan Corral and Sergio Verdugo. The Patriots will be back in action Friday night at Ironwood HS, which will be a rematch of last Friday’s tournament match. Come on out and support your Patriots.

If so, please stop by the Career Center before/after school or during both lunches to get information about additional scholarships that are being offered for students who qualify. The deadline to apply and submit the applications are Tuesday February 19th.

Choir Holiday (Merrill; 12/6)

Looking for a great cheap date? Bored on Friday Night and looking for something to do? Wanna just get out of the house and enjoy the Holiday spirit? We have just the thing for you! Join us tomorrow night for a concert under the stars brought to you by the Glendale Union Vocal Ensembles. This concert is completely free and will be held at the Municipal Complex Amphitheater in Downtown Glendale at 7:30. So, grab a cozy jacket, bring a big blanket, and get ready for holiday cheer. Hope to see you there!

This concert is absolutely free, so come join us tonight at 7:30. Hope to see you there!
