TUESDAY ANNOUNCEMENTS

 

 

Bookstore (Holt; 5/09)

Information:  The following books will be available for purchase in the bookstore: Crucible, $9.00, The Great Gatsby $10.50, The Handmaid’s Tale, The Great Expectations $5.50, Othello $2.50…LIMITED SUPPLY WHEN THERE GONE THEY ARE GONE.

Driver Education Session (Tualla; 5/09)

The last Driver Ed. session will be May 30, 31, and June 1 from 8:00 a.m. to noon each day. Behind the wheel instruction will begin after attending the classroom portion. Register at the Moon Valley bookstore anytime until May 17. The cost is $210 and you must show a copy of your permit or driver license when you register. Call Mrs. Kara Martin at the bookstore if you want to register by mail and she will provide the instructions. Parents can pay by their tax credit for this year if they have not used it as yet. Call Kara Martin if you have any questions.

BOOKSTORE (Holt; 5/5- 5/16)

Graduation Extra Tickets will be going on sale Monday, May 8th and will end Wednesday, May 17th .  You can only purchase what you requested.  The price is $5 for each extra ticket.  CASH OR MONEY ORDER ONLY.

Basketball (L. Gardner; 5/5- 5/10)

Attention ALL girls basketball players. There will be open gym on Monday (5/8) and Wednesday (5/10) of next week. There will also be a MANDATORY meeting on Wednesday(5/10) at 3:00 to talk about summer workouts and league. If you are not available to attend, please see Coach Gardner ASAP! Open Gym will follow the meeting. 3:00 – 4:30 on Monday and Wednesday.

Senior Bash Tickets (Ziance; 5/9)

Seniors it is the last week to purchase your senior bash tickets. It is 8 dollars in the mall area.

Track (Groseta; 5/9)

Congratulations to the IHS Track team that competed at the State Championship last night. 

4x800 team members Cristian Guillen, Felisi Mudyango, Jesus Aldana, and Victor Flores capped off a great season. Jada Washington long jumped a personal best and finished 7th in the state.

Jesus Aldana BROKE THE SCHOOL RECORD in the 2 mile with a blazing fast time of 9:56!

AND the 4x400 team broke their own School Record, finishing 5th in the state!

Tommy Stone, Cristian Guillen, Tirhaga Gadallah, and Justin Randall. Way to make IHS Proud!

The limit for this session will be 40 , so if you plan to attend please register as soon as possible because opening spots will fill up quickly. Last day to register is May 17 or when the session is full. Registration must be completed at the Moon Valley bookstore with Mrs.Kara Martin.

Chess Team (Bolton; 5/11)

Attention ALL Chess Players (current and any new interested people), please report to Coach Bolton’s, Room B-24 for the NEXT Session of “Open Boards” following a brief business meeting Thursday at 2:45.  Come join the growing number of I.H.S. Chess Team members preparing to earn their Varsity Letter during the NEXT Team season!  Everyone is invited to join us NOW and bring a friend along to play.  Team Competition is just around the “Castle,” so come be a part of Patriot Chess Nation!

Visual Arts (Cramer; 5/11)

The annual Independence Art Show is all day tomorrow in the mall area.

The Visual Arts Department asks that you are mindful of your surroundings…

No touching the artwork - touch with your eyes and not your hands.

If you break, vandalize or destroy an artwork there will be consequences

Please No Running, Yelling or Pushing

Your Best behavior is expected!

Art student have worked EXTREMELY hard this year to produce the best work possible.  BE MINDFUL OF YOUR COMMENTS. If you feel you can do better, please take an art class.

Teachers are being asked to accompany their students to help maintain order during the show

***Backpacks should be left in the classroom if possible.

***Extra judge forms are available if you wish to vote for award winners.

All track members that have not turned in their uiform or picked up banquet info please see Coach Gardner asap! All uniforms and debts must be turned in, in order to receive your award.

Softball (Wiley; 5/11)

All Softball players don’t forget to turn in your forms for the banquet. If you have not turned in your uniforms your need to do so ASAP.

Yearbooks are in and available for purchase. They are $65 and limited in number, so hurry and purchase yours before they are gone!

Shane’s Rib Shack (Marshall- 5/12)

Everybody love Barbeque and Shane’s Rib Shack will be here every Monday to bring you’re their tasty barbeque. You will have the option to purchase a shredded barbeque sandwich or buffalo chicken strips with chips for $5.00.
