TUESDAY ANNOUNCEMENTS

 

Bookstore (Holt; 8/14- 5/19)

Driver Education (Ben St. Pierre; 10/24)

Students interested in Drivers Education for the October session need to register with the Moon Valley bookstore by October 20th. Contact the Moon Valley bookstore at 623-915-8019.  Students must have a valid permit or drivers license in order to take the class.  Students also need to participate in all  4 classes and then receive 6 hours behind the wheel instruction in order to pass the class.  The deadline for students interested in drivers education need to be registered by Friday October 20th.  Classes begin the Saturday you return from Fall Break.

PSAT (Dr. Rodriguez; 10/5- 10/24)

Sophomores and Juniors do you want a chance to earn scholarship money to go to college anywhere in the US?  Sign up to take the PSAT test in the bookstore now.  The test is October 25th in the PAC building and it is first come first serve until it is full.  The cost is $16.00 paid in the bookstore.   

GCC ACE Announcement (Dr. Rodriguez; 10/20- 10/31)

Sophomores Only: GCC is offering free college classes through the ACE Program.  GCC came and did presentation of all the information, if you missed it, see your counselor.  The application is in the counseling department, come in and pick it up. The ACE application will be due November 1st  to your counselor. This is a scholarship program for free college classes at Glendale Community College and a great opportunity!

Spookygrams go on sell today during or lunch or see any STUCO member to order yours $1-$5. Delivery will be on Halloween during 4th and 5th hour.

STUCO is selling shirts this week for $10.00—find a STUCO member or the booth at lunch to pre-order this limited edition shirt. Come cheer on the football team as they prepare to take on Glendale High School.

We will also be celebrating the end of seasons for swim, badminton, golf, chess, and volleyball who all had wonderful seasons.

Students signed up for the PSAT this Wednesday, October 25th,  remember to bring an approved calculator (the list is in your study guide), #2 pencil and your Student ID.  Check in begins at 7:30 AM in the PAC. Please be prepared and on time for the test.

Art Club is creating frosted glass containers to hold candles, candy, flowers, or anything you would use a beautiful glass container for. The frosted glass containers are hand crafted and cheap – small containers are $5 and larger containers are $8. Order your frosted glass today! Payment is due upon ordering. Look for the table in the mall area to place your frosted glass order.

P3 Envelopes (T. Starr; 10/24- 10/25)

Swim and Dive (Hallum; 10/25)

The swim and dive team concluded their regular season schedule last night.  In their final home meet as Patriots, seniors Hailey Stone, Christina Mai, Fernanda Rojas and Diana Lopez put forth great performances against a tough Agua Fria team.  

On the boys side, Agua Fria started the meet winning the first four races, but, the boys showed their resilience behind the Senior leadership of Ricardo Sanchez, Elijah Arrieta and Luis Alvarez to power back to win five of the last 7 races and win the meet on the last race, pushing their overall season record to 8 wins and 1 loss.  

Your coaches are very proud of all of you and the amazing season you have had.  Next up for this awesome team is the District Championships tomorrow and Friday.

The Patriot Hut, your new student store, is celebrating its Grand Opening all this week.  Once again, the first 10 paying customers today will get a free bag of chips.  Come check us out on your way off campus for a refreshing drink or an afternoon snack.  Look for the service window across from the PAC to be open from 2:40 to 3:10pm.

PIT CLUB (Gardner; 10/27)

PIT Club will meet next week on October 31st and November 1st in the weight room. You must have your orange release form filled out and turned in to come in. If you would like to join come, see Coach Gardner in the PE Locker room for a release form.

Chess Team (Bolton; 10/27)

The Chess Team wants to thank everyone that has congratulated them on their 4th Place Region 2 finish, 2nd of only two Glendale Union Schools to qualify for the State Team tournament next week.  The team would like to wish ALL players well for this weekend’s Region 2 Individual Qualifier tournament, especially our alternate Varsity players playing in their first tourney, led by Grace Pearson, Victor Bruno, Cristian Corral, Joseph Feltner, Matt Hernandez, David Osorio, Elijah Rivera, and Miguel Roman!  All players are expected to join Coach Bolton in his room B-24 after 1st Lunch today for travel to the tournament at G.H.S.

Cross Country (Groseta; 10/27)

The Boys Cross Country team ran an impressive race yesterday in the Sectional Championship that qualified the entire team for the State Championship next week! Jesus Aldana and Cristian Guillen continued their stellar seasons, being awarded 1st and 2nd team-All Section medals.  The girls just missed qualifying, but wrapped up their season with a strong finish.  Great job Cross Country and wish the varsity boys good luck at the state championship next week!

Swim and Dive (Hallum; 10/27)

The Swim and Dive team had a great day yesterday at the qualifying round of the District Championships yesterday. Briana Gonzalez, Diana Lopez, Fernanda Rojas, Ethan Amaya, Eric Luna-Ochoa, Danny Huynh, Kyle Gayo and Elijah Cortez were invited back to compete in their individual races in today as well as Madeline Smith, Maria Coronado, Luis Alvarez, Guillermo Cazarez, Elijah Arrieta and Ricardo Sanches who will all be swimming in championship heats.   If you see a swimmer, show them your support.

Everybody love Barbeque and Shane’s Rib Shack will be here every Monday to bring you their tasty barbeque. You have the option to purchase a shredded barbeque sandwich or buffalo chicken strips with chips for $5.00.
