MONDAY ANNOUNCEMENTS

 

 

Bookstore (Holt; 4/10)

Information:  The following books will be available for purchase in the bookstore:

Crucible, $9.00, The Great Gatsby $10.50, The Handmades Tale $9.00, The Great Expectations $5.50, Othello $2.50…LIMITED SUPPLY WHEN THERE GONE THEY ARE GONE.

Driver Education Session (Tualla; 4/10)

The fourth Dr. Ed. session will began this Saturday, April 1. The class will be from 8:00 a.m. to noon and will meet in Room 704 in Building 7. Need to bring a pencil or pen to write with. Be on time and get rested up for a long session. Be also aware students that you can start registering for the final session of this school year. May 30, 31 and June 1 from 8:00 a.m. to noon each day. Afterwards the behind - the wheel instruction will begin.

Prom Tickets will be going on sale and if you have more than a $6.00 fine on your account, you WILL NOT be able to purchase the tickets until all the BOOKS, MONEY OR ITEMS ARE returned.  If you have any questions, just come to the bookstore.

AP Testing (Koole; 3/30- 4/12)

Attention AP Students! We will be holding a mandatory AP presentation and pre-administration session on Wednesday, April 12th in the PAC building. Check-in is 7:40 a.m. and the presentation will begin promptly at 8:00. Any AP student that cannot attend this meeting must see Ms. Koole in the counseling office as soon as possible.

Key Club (Pampel; 4/10)

“Attention Patriots, Key Club is inviting you to a join them on Saturday, April 15, at the Applebee’s located just past 91st Avenue on Northern in front of the Target, from 8 to 10am for a pancake breakfast fundraiser. For just $8 dollars, you can enjoy an endless amount of pancakes! You can purchase tickets for the event from Mr. Pampel in R-14 or any Key Club member. Tickets are required in order to enter.  We can’t wait to see you there!”

STUCO (Marshall; 4/4- 4/14)

There will be a 2017 basketball tournament on Monday April 17th! We need teams of 3! You and your team can sign up in the mall area, sign-ups will end April 14th Each team member will have to pay 4 dollars. The winning team will get pizza and soda!

Spiritline Tryout Packet (McMahon; 4/10)

Anyone interested in trying out for next year’s varsity Spiritline, all tryout packets are due to Ms. McMahon in room B25 by Monday April 10th at 3:30. Tryout clinics will take place Tuesday April 11th and Wednesday April 12thin the dance room from 3:30-5:30,

Prom (Kelly; 4/7-5/2)

Prom guest forms are now available in the attendance office. They are due back by Wednesday 5-3-17 NO EXCEPTIONS! If you have a failing grade the guest form will not be approved until you get the grade to passing.

STUCO (Marshall; 4/10)

Everybody love Barbeque and Shane’s Rib Shack will be here every Monday to bring you’re their tasty barbeque. You will have the option to purchase a shredded barbeque sandwich or buffalo chicken strips with chips for $5.00.

Photo Club Meeting (Kerr. 4/10-4/11)

Attention Photo Club Members: This Tuesday we will be meeting for our annual on-campus shooting challenge. Meet in Mr. Kerr’s room, #207 at 2:45 and wear comfortable clothes. See you there!

Attention everyone interested in playing Volleyball.  We will start open gym on Thursday April 13th from 5-7 in the Main Gym.  This is all boys and girls interested in playing Volleyball.  Please stop by Ms. Monaghan’s room to pick up out of season form so you can participate. 

Scholarship (Counseling; 4/10- 4/14)

Seniors: Are you going to a trade school next year, and do you need $1000? If so, please stop by the counseling office and see your counselor or stop by the career center before or after school.

P3 GOLDEN RULE AWARD (Frazen; 4/10, 4/11, 4/12)

Students, is there a teacher at Independence who has made a difference for you?  Did this teacher go the extra mile and give you that little extra push to improve your academics?  Please nominate this teacher for the P3 Golden Rule Award.  Forms can be found in the folders by the stairwells.  Turn in nomination forms to Mr. Gaspar in B4 or Ms. Frazen in B8 by Friday, April 15th.

We hope to see you, your friends, and your family there!”

The Christopher E. Abril Inspirational Scholarship deadline is this Wednesday, April 12th at 3:00 pm!

Visit the Counseling Office or Career Center to pick up an application. We hope that this scholarship will inspire the recipient to appreciate their education and make a difference in the lives of others. At least one $500 scholarship will be awarded.

Eligibility

1. The applicant must be an IHS 2016-2017 graduating senior.

2. The applicant plans to attend a vocational/technical college, community college, or university and must be able to show proof by the end of the school year, May 2017.

Theatre (Farson; 4/11- 4/14)

Patriot Performers and Advanced Theatre class are proud to present: The One Act version of “Just Another High School Play”. This play follows high school students whose theatre director has gone missing and they are forced to put on a show last minute. Chaos and comedy ensue once they realize that their director might not be coming back. Can they pull off a show in time? Show dates are Thursday 4/13/17 and Friday 4/14/17 at 6pm at the auditorium. $2.00 cash at the door. Come out and support your fellow students and have a fun time!

Register at the Moon Valley bookstore anytime until May 17. The cost is $210 and you must show a copy of your permit or driver license when you register. Call Mrs. Kara Martin at the bookstore if you want to register by mail and she will provide the instructions. Parents can pay by their tax credit for this year if they have not used it as yet. Call Kara Martin if you have any questions.
