Fall Choir Concert (Merrill; 9/27- 10/2)

Information: The IHS Choirs will be hosting their first concert of the year on October 2nd at 7 pm in the Auditorium. There is no cost for this first concert. We hope to see many of you there.

Hiking Club (Chandler, Mitchell; 9/27 –10/2)

Patriots: We will be traveling to Estrella Mountain Park for the next IHS Hiking Club trip! If you would like to go on the trip, it is important that you attend the planning meeting on Wednesday, October 3rd at 8:20 am in Room 121. See Ms. Chandler or Ms. Mitchell if you are interested in the hike but unable to attend the meeting. Remember: Hike More… Worry Less!

STUCO (Marshall; 10/1)

Everybody love Barbeque and Shane’s Rib Shack will be here every Monday to bring you their tasty barbeque. You have the option to purchase a shredded barbeque sandwich or buffalo chicken strips with chips for $5.00.

Speech and Debate (Mandile; 10/1- 10/2)

Speech and Debate will be meeting in R-24 on Tuesday, October 2nd at 2:45. Please be on time. Thanks

Media Center (Ehrick; 10/1)

Today marks the first day of I.H.S. banned book week. Banned book week is a celebration of books that have been banned or censored in school libraries or schools. Many of these books are classics like To Kill A Mockingbird. 

In celebration, come into the library today and write a letter to your favorite banned book author. Stationery, limited stamps, and a treat are available to those that participate. See Mrs. Ehrick for more details.

In celebration, you will have the opportunity to vote for your favorite banned book. The winner will be announced on Friday. Hope to see you in the media center.

GCC ACE (Trezza; 10/2- 10/17)

Sophomores Only: Glendale Community College (GCC) is offering free college classes through the ACE program. GCC will be doing a presentation of all the information and how to apply. It will be Thursday, October 18th after school at 2:45-3:30 in the Mini Auditorium. GCC representatives will be presenting and answering questions on how to apply. The ACE application will be due November 16th to your counselor. This is a scholarship program for free college classes at Glendale Community College and a great opportunity! Be there!

Patriot Hut (Munoz; 10/2)

The Patriot Hut is serving up cheese and pepperoni pizza, macaroni and cheese, corn dogs, turkey melts and pb&j sandwiches all this week; come on down for lunch!  And, after school grab an Arizona Ice Tea, a soda or even an ice cream sandwich.

Speech and Debate (Mandile; 10/2)

In celebration, you will have the opportunity to get a public library card in the media center until 3:00 PM today. Please bring your ID, and teachers and staff please bring your proof address and driver’s license. See you in the media center!

Special Olympics (Perry; 10/3)

Congratulations to the Unified Special Olympics badminton team on their outstanding performance at the Glendale Union District tournament last week and the sectionals tournament yesterday.  Two IHS Unified doubles teams will be advancing to the AIA state unified playoffs on Oct 20th.  Congratulations to Gabriel Rosales, Sarina Lujan, Oscar Arredondo Torres, and Enrique Arellano.  Good luck at State!

Attention seniors, do you need help with your works cited or in-text citations? If so, please come to Mrs. Ehrick’s Works Cited/in-text citation workshop on Wednesday October 17 at 8:15 AM-8:55 AM or 2:40PM- 3:35PM. Hope to see you there, seniors! Please bring highlighters and a copy of paper printed if you have it.

Swim and Dive (Hallum; 10/5)

The swim and Dive team had their final regular meet of the season last night, recognizing their senior swimmers and divers.  Senior Elijah Cortez took first place in the diving part of the contest, warming up for his dive competition this evening that will be held at Glendale High school.  Seniors Erick Luna Ochoa, Alberto Gomez, and Jailene Artelejo also put forth some quality efforts in support of the team.  The team will now begin preparing for their state qualifying competitions which will begin after fall break.
