TUESDAY ANNOUNCEMENTS

 

Bookstore (Holt; till 5/05)

Information: The following books will be available for purchase in the bookstore: Jane Eyre; Beloved ; Fahrenheit 451; Great Gatsby; Othello; The Crucible; Night …LIMITED SUPPLY WHEN THERE GONE THEY ARE GONE.

GCC ACE (Trezza; 10/30- 11/16)

Sophomores Only: Glendale Community College (GCC) is offering free college classes through the ACE program. GCC came and did a presentation of all the information. If you missed it, see your counselor. The application is in the counseling department. Come and pick it up! The ACE application will be due Friday November 16th to your counselor. This is a scholarship program for free college classes at Glendale Community College and a great opportunity!

Make A Wish (Cass; 11/5- 12-5)

The Independence campus collection of Santa letters for the Macy's Believe Campaign starts this week! One letter to Santa is a $1 donation from Macy's to the Make-A-Wish Foundation®, which "grant[s] the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy."  

Collection is November 5th - December 5th

Letters may be simple, but school appropriate.

Students may turn in letters to any teacher.

Our goal is 45,000 letters!

Harvest Buffet (Marian; 11/13)

Come join us for our Harvest Buffet Thursday November 15th. The menu is Turkey, Mashed Potatoes/Gravy, vegetables, pudding, fruit cup, and a dinner roll.

WEST-MEC (Koole; 11/13)

Attention sophomores, juniors and seniors! Are you interested in a West-MEC program for next year?  If so, there is a mandatory application meeting next Wednesday, November 14th.  You will need to attend one of the meetings: either 8:00 a.m. or 2:40 p.m. in the Mini Auditorium. Remember, if you do not attend one of these meetings, you may miss your chance to apply!

We are also taking students on a fieldtrip to West-MEC’s NW Campus on 11/21. Go pick up a permission slip from the Career Center.

Freshman Class of Stuco (Marshall; 11/13)

We are having a Chipotle Fundraiser at the Westgate Chipotle on Tuesday November 13th! Please join us, a portion of the proceeds goes to the Freshman Class.  We hope to see you there!

Photo Club Meeting (Mr. Kerr; 11/13)

Due to the Veteran’s Day holiday, the Photo Club meeting will be today at 2:45 PM. We have some important announcements to make regarding upcoming field trip activities. We hope to see you there!

ANYTOWN (E. Carreon; 11/13- 11/14)

Congratulations to everyone who participated this weekend in Anytown! We had a unique and rewarding experience; and we are so proud of our Anytown grads.

We would like to thank all the faculty and staff who helped out in any way to make this year’s camp a huge success. And a very special thanks to all the students who challenged themselves this weekend. And speaking of our Anytown graduates – please stop by room 228 during lunch for some information about upcoming events.

Spiritline Tryout Packets (Coach Rubio; 11/13)

 “JV Spiritline tryout packets must be turned in to Coach Rubio in room B25 no later than 3:30 today. Late tryout packets will not be accepted.”

Civics Test (Ms. Harrison; 11/13)

Reminder to seniors who still need to take the Civics test – if your last name begins with A-K you must go to the media center after school today to take your test. This is a graduation requirement.

Attention Patriots Students and Faculty,

Did you know that November is Picture book month? In Celebration, the media center will be accepting gently used children’s books for the Glendale Little Library Program. Each book will go to a little kid who will love them as much as you did. See Mrs. Ehrick for more details.

Yearbook (Marshall; 11/15- 11/30)

Seniors: Remember you must get your yearbook portrait done at Grad’s Photography before November 30th to be included in the yearbook

Hiking Club (Mitchell; 11/15 – 11/20)

Patriots: We will be traveling to Phoenix Mountain Preserve for the next IHS Hiking Club trip! If you would like to go on the trip, it is important that you attend the planning meeting on Wednesday, November 21st at 8:20 am in Room 121. See Ms. Chandler or Ms. Mitchell if you are interested in the hike but unable to attend the meeting. Remember: Hike More… Worry Less!

Patriot Hut (Munoz; 11/15)

Young Environmentalist’s Club (Bolton, Kieu; 11/15)

The Young Environmentalist’s Club and Jr. ROTC Community Service will meet in Ms. Kieu’s Room G-11 TODAY after school at 2:45 pm. Please come out and join all of the Young Environmentalist’s and Jr. ROTC in getting community service hours credit while helping the Patriot Nation Environment in Recycling. No experience required!  See you there!

STUCO (Marshall; 11/16)

Everybody love Barbeque and Shane’s Rib Shack will be here every Monday to bring you their tasty barbeque. You have the option to purchase a shredded barbeque sandwich or buffalo chicken strips with chips for $5.00.
