MONDAY ANNOUNCEMENTS

 

Bookstore (Holt; till 5/05)

Information: The following books will be available for purchase in the bookstore: Jane Eyre; Beloved ; Fahrenheit 451; Great Gatsby; Othello; The Crucible; Night ; The Color of Water…LIMITED SUPPLY WHEN THERE GONE THEY ARE GONE.

Make A Wish (Cass; 11/5- 12-5)

The Independence campus collection of Santa letters for the Macy's Believe Campaign starts this week! One letter to Santa is a $1 donation from Macy's to the Make-A-Wish Foundation®, which "grant[s] the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy."  

Collection is November 5th - December 5th

Letters may be simple, but school appropriate.

Students may turn in letters to any teacher.

Our goal is 45,000 letters!

Key Club (Pampel; 11/13- 12/14)

Read One Fact Each Day:

Did you know 1 in 4 children in Arizona go to bed hungry at night?

Did you know 1 in 5 seniors in Arizona go to bed hungry at night?

Did you know 1 in 7 Arizonians go to bed hungry at night?

Did you know 1 dollar can provide seven meals?

Every Day:

Bring in your canned food items to classrooms with food drive boxes. If you bring in 6 cans to the attendance office, you can avoid a lunch detention.

WHERE: Faculty Cafeteria. Be sure to be there and ready to talk about our latest book

Yearbook (Marshall; 11/15- 11/30)

Seniors: Remember you must get your yearbook portrait done at Grad’s Photography before November 30th to be included in the yearbook

Hiking Club (Mitchell; 11/15 – 11/20)

Patriots: We will be traveling to Phoenix Mountain Preserve for the next IHS Hiking Club trip! If you would like to go on the trip, it is important that you attend the planning meeting on Wednesday, November 21st at 8:20 am in Room 121. See Ms. Chandler or Ms. Mitchell if you are interested in the hike but unable to attend the meeting. Remember: Hike More… Worry Less!

Tennis (Ziance; 11/19)

All those interested in tennis and are not in a winter sport open courts will be held on November 27 and November 29. Also on December 4 and December 5 and December 11 from 3pm to 4pm. See Coach Ziance (B18) or Coach Tracy (G2)!!

CHEMISTRY CLUB MEETING (KLEISSLE – 11/16-11/19)

Hey Patriots!! There is going to be a Chemistry Club Meeting on Monday, November 19th in Room 111 at 2:45 pm to make some plans for December and elect officers. Hoping to see current and former chemistry students there!!

Gamers Club (Young, Kieu; 11/19)

We have a new club on campus, The Gamers Club. Report to Room R21 on Tuesday November 20th at 2:45 to discuss.

STUCO (Marshall; 11/19)

Everybody love Barbeque and Shane’s Rib Shack will be here every Monday to bring you their tasty barbeque. You have the option to purchase a shredded barbeque sandwich or buffalo chicken strips with chips for $5.00.

Patriot Hut (Munoz; 11/19)

Patriots, the holidays are near and Thanksgiving is close, so the Patriot Hut is hosting a BLACK OUT SALE and giving you a reason to be thankful for deals.   This week only, get a bundle that includes an ICE flavored water, a pizza, and baked chips for just $4.50!  AND…the first lucky 5 customers at each lunch can buy it for THE LOW PRICE OF $3.50, so plan to have lunch at the Patriot Hut on Tuesday and Wednesday - - and HURRY DOWN.

Speech and Debate (Mandile; 11/20)

Speech and debate will be having a meeting to discuss next semester’s debate schedule. We will be meeting at 2:45 in room R-24.

GCC ACE (Ms. Trezza; 11/20- 12/4)

Sophomores Only: The deadline for ACE applications has been extended! Glendale Community College (GCC) is offering free college classes through the ACE program. GCC came and did a presentation of all the information. If you missed it, see your counselor. The application is in the counseling department. Come and pick it up! The ACE application will be due Tuesday December 4th to your counselor. This is a scholarship program for free college classes at Glendale Community College and a great opportunity!

FBLA (MUNOZ, 11/20)

Don’t forget that FBLA is selling hot and iced coffee for $1.50 at the Patriot Hut on late start Wednesdays.  You can also grab a muffin, if you’re hungry.  MAKE A COFFEE STOP at the Patriot Hut tomorrow morning!

Chess Team (Bolton; 11/20)

Attention PATRIOT NATION!  Some of the Patriot Varsity Chess Team hit the chess boards for the State Individual Chess Tournament this past Friday & Saturday @ Corona del Sol HS! Stephen Hoven finished in 5th Place overall in the entire state, while fellow team-mates Ethan Amaya and Anthony Adams achieved Championship status.  Senior Miguel Roman, along with Juniors Victor Bruno and Kevin Romero, and freshmen Unique Adams, Ian Amaya, Ricardo Molina, Hoang (David) Vo and Emma Wulfers qualified and competed in the Alternate section. The “Patriot Pawn” Award goes to Ricardo Molina, who recorded 5 of 6 wins against higher rated opponents.  Team members please join us today after school in Room B-24, Coach Bolton’s room for a brief meeting to discuss our upcoming banquet.  Remember, play more Chess & stress less!
