MONDAY ANNOUNCEMENTS

 

Bookstore (Holt; till 5/05)

Information: The following books will be available for purchase in the bookstore: Jane Eyre; Beloved ; Fahrenheit 451; Great Gatsby; Othello; The Crucible; Night ; The Color of Water…LIMITED SUPPLY WHEN THERE GONE THEY ARE GONE.

Make A Wish (Cass; 11/5- 12-5)

The Independence campus collection of Santa letters for the Macy's Believe Campaign starts this week! One letter to Santa is a $1 donation from Macy's to the Make-A-Wish Foundation®, which "grant[s] the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy."  

Collection is November 5th - December 5th

Letters may be simple, but school appropriate.

Students may turn in letters to any teacher.

Our goal is 45,000 letters!

Key Club (Pampel; 11/13- 12/14)

Read One Fact Each Day:

Did you know 1 in 4 children in Arizona go to bed hungry at night?

Did you know 1 in 5 seniors in Arizona go to bed hungry at night?

Did you know 1 in 7 Arizonians go to bed hungry at night?

Did you know 1 dollar can provide seven meals?

Every Day:

Bring in your canned food items to classrooms with food drive boxes. If you bring in 6 cans to the attendance office, you can avoid a lunch detention.

WHERE: Faculty Cafeteria. Be sure to be there and ready to talk about our latest book

Yearbook (Marshall; 11/15- 11/30)

Seniors: Remember you must get your yearbook portrait done at Grad’s Photography before November 30th to be included in the yearbook

Tennis (Ziance; 11/26)

All those interested in tennis and are not in a winter sport open courts will be held on November 27 and November 29. Also on December 4 and December 5 and December 11 from 3pm to 4pm. See Coach Ziance (B18) or Coach Tracy (G2)!!

GCC ACE (Ms. Trezza; 11/20- 12/4)

Sophomores Only: The deadline for ACE applications has been extended! Glendale Community College (GCC) is offering free college classes through the ACE program. GCC came and did a presentation of all the information. If you missed it, see your counselor. The application is in the counseling department. Come and pick it up! The ACE application will be due Tuesday December 4th to your counselor. This is a scholarship program for free college classes at Glendale Community College and a great opportunity!

Band (Meldrum 11/21- 11/30)

Interested in band, but did not want to be in marching band?  Students who are interested in joining Jazz Band, Concert Band or Colorguard for the Spring, please see Mr. Meldrum in the Band Room.

Hiking Club (Mitchell; 11/26)

Hey Patriots! Just a reminder that if you want to go on this Thursday’s Hiking Club trip to Piestewa Peak, please turn in your forms and money to Ms. Chandler or Ms. Mitchell by TOMORROW, Tuesday, November 27th!

Everybody love Barbeque and Shane’s Rib Shack will be here every Monday to bring you’re their tasty barbeque. You will have the option to purchase a shredded barbeque sandwich or buffalo chicken strips with chips for $5.00.

National Honor Society (Gaspar; 11/27)

Tomorrow Morning, National Honor Society is hosting a scholarship information session in the mini-auditorium. All are invited to attend.

There will be a meeting for all cross country runners at 2:45 on Wednesday  11/28 in coach Hermann’s classroom. We will be discussing our banquet and preseason track. Please be on time.

Did you know that November is Picture book month? In celebration, the media center will be accepting gently used children’s books for the Glendale Little Library Program. Each book will go to a little kid who will love them as much as you did. See Mrs. Ehrick for more details.

If you received a green congrats notice, please plan on attending an important meeting tomorrow in the mini auditorium. You can come to the mini either before school at 7:20; after school at 2:35; or during your lunch. Come find out about what Unitown is all about. Young Environmentalist’s Club (Bolton; Kieu; 11/29)

The Young Environmentalist’s Club and Jr. ROTC Community Service will meet in Ms. Kieu’s Room G-11 TODAY after school at 2:45 pm. Please come out and join all of the Young Environmentalist’s and Jr. ROTC in getting community service hours credit while helping the Patriot Nation Environment in Recycling. Varsity Boys (S. Gomez; 11/30)

The boys varsity soccer team advanced to the semifinals of the Moon Valley tournament last night, with a 2-0 victory over Copper Canyon. Senior Enrique Arellano scored both goals in the 1st half. Senior Goalkeeper Jason Rodriguez preserved the shutout in the second half, with a great diving save on a Copper Canyon penalty kick. Tonight’s semifinal match will be at 8:30 against Ironwood HS at Moon Valley. Come out and support your Patriot Soccer team!!!!
