MONDAY ANNOUNCEMENTS

 

Bookstore (Holt; 1/30)

Information:  The following books will be available for purchase in the bookstore:

Crucible, $9.00, The Handmaid’s Tale $8.00, The Great Gatsby $10.00, The Great Expectations $5.50, Othello $2.50, and the Invisible Man $9.50…LIMITED SUPPLY WHEN THERE GONE THEY ARE GONE.

Driver Education (Tualla; 1/30)

Just a reminder for those attending the Driver Education class this Saturday , Jan. 28 : it is very important to be punctual for class which starts at 8:00 a.m. Must attend all 12 hours of class before one can do the behind the wheel portion and receive your car insurance discount card.Bring a pencil or pen to class as there will be some activities that require you have one. Get lots of sleep as it will be a 4 hour session. See you Sat. morning.
Softball (Wiley; 1/30)

If you are going to try out for Softball make sure you get cleared ASAP. If you were in another sport make sure you get your cards switched over to softball. If you went to get the free physical last year go to the Athletic office and makes sure they have it. Don’t wait to get cleared! No open field until tryouts. Try outs are February 6th.

Valentine Grams (Marshall; 1/25- 2/10)

Buy a treaties for your sweetie! Valentines grams are being sold January 30th through February 10th.

Blood drive (Marshall; 1/25- 1/31)

There will be Blood Drive on 2/3

Blood donation forms are available in the mall area during both lunches, or you can see a student council member in one of your classes, or Ms. Marshall in B20

Forms are due January 31st.

Dodgeball Tournament 2.0 (Marshall; 1/25- 2/10)

Patriots there will be a Dodgeball tournament, Wednesday February 15th from 6 to 8 pm. Sign-ups will be located in the mall area during both lunches. Each team must have 6 members and each player must pay $3 dollars to play.

STUCO (Marshall; 1/30)

Everybody love Barbeque and Shane’s Rib Shack will be here every Monday to bring you’re their tasty barbeque. You will have the option to purchase a shredded barbeque sandwich or buffalo chicken strips with chips for $5.00.

SENIOR PANORAMIC (1/30)

Senior the Panoramic Photo will be taken Wednesday, February 22nd in the Gym at exactly 8 am.  DO NOT BE LATE.

MATH CLUB (1/30)

Do you need help with your math homework? Math Club is offering free tutoring every Wednesday at 8:15am in room R15. Be rational and add yourself to the attendance.

From the Dean’s office:

Just a reminder . . . if you have received a summons from the attendance office that states you have after school detention today – do not ignore it! You must come the cafeteria by 2:40 or face a referral to the Dean’s office.

Reminder #2

You may not go out to the student parking lot during lunch. Make arrangements to have all of your belongings the first time you exit your vehicle in the morning. The parking lot is out of bounds during the day. Thank you!

All boys who plan on playing tennis this year needs to be cleared by next monday.  The first day of practice is Monday, February 6th at 3 p.m. on the tennis courts.  Please talk to Coach Baughman with any questions.

Attention those that LOVE to dance!  This WED, FEB 1st is a FREE Bachata class with dance instructor, Brandon Odom.  Meet in the Dance Room (upstairs in the gym) from 3-4pm.  Both students and staff are welcome.  Wear comfortable clothing & socks or jazz shoes for the dance floor.  See Ms. Frazen in B8 with questions.

Boys Soocer (S. Gomez; 1/31)

Calling all Patriots,,,, It's a white out tonight as the boys soccer team will host Marana Mountain View in the 1st round of the state playoffs. Kickoff is at 6:00. Come out and  support your boys soccer team and wear white!!!
Congratulations to the following boys soccer players for earning all region honors:

Junior forward German Lopez was named player of the region!!!
1st team honors went to Goalkeeper Alberto Lopez, Midfielder Aaron Vilchis and defender Alexis Astorga. 2nd team honors went to forward Enrique Arellano and Defender Osmar Medina.
Honorable Mention honors went to Midfielders Gabriel Pineda, Andrew Perez and Isaac Salazar. Great Job Patriots!!!!

At lunch the ONLY places you may hang out are in the cafeteria, in the mall, the hallways around the cafeteria, the back patio or the media center. Please do not wander around in other areas. If you are ever unsure of the boundaries do not hesitate to ask someone who has a radio. Thank you!

Talent Show (Marshall; 2/1- 2/9)

Independence got Talent? Patriots are you ready to show us your skills? Whether it’s singing, dancing magic anything, come audition in our talent show! Auditions will be held February 9th in the mini auditorium after school at 2:45 pm! The talent show will be February 24th from 5:30 to 7pm.

Softball (Wiley; 2/1)

Softball tryouts will start Monday February 6th. Anyone interested needs to report to the Varsity Softball Field by 3:15. You have to be cleared in order to tryout. If you are coming from another sport make sure you get your card switched over.

Boys Soccer (S. Gomez; 2/1)

Congratulations to the boys soccer team on their 1st round state victory last night over Marana Mountain View by the score of 2-0. Junior German Lopez continued his scoring tear with two goals last night, bringin his season total to 28 goals, a single season scoring record for the Patriots. The back line of Alexis Astorga, Osmar Medina, Carlos Fuentes, Victor De Paz and Goalkeeper Alberto Lopez preserved the shutout!! Captains Aaron Vilchis and Gabriel Pineda did a solid job for the Patriots in the midfield keeping Marana frustrated!!! With the win the Patriots advance to the quarterfinals and will travel to Chaparral on Saturday at 2:00. Come out and support your Patriots!!! And a big shout out to all that attended last nights game!!!

If you see Seniors Felisi Mudyango and D’Nyjah Frenc, wish them luck! They are competing in the CCAP Culinary Competition tomorrow, Saturday the 4th of February. Each of them will be making a French Omelet and the CCAP Salad. Best of luck!!

Announcement for Friday (2/3) and Mon (2/6)

Health and Wellness Club (Frazen; 2/3- 2/6)

This Tuesday, February 7th Christina Flinders from the Madison Improvement Club in Phoenix will be teaching a FREE Hip-Hop Yoga class from 3-4pm in our I.H.S. Dance Room (upstairs in the gym).  This will be an up-beat beginner yoga class to Hip-Hop music.  Wear comfortable workout clothing and bring a beach towel or yoga mat (only if you want). Both students and staff are welcome to join in the FUN and get moving.  See Ms. Frazen in B8 with questions.
