Driver’s Ed (St. Pierre; 1/9)

The 3rd session for Driver's Ed starts Saturday February 3rd at 8AM to Noon. Cost is $210 dollars. You need a valid drivers license, permit and student ID. You need to register at the Moon Valley bookstore by January 26th. 

Boys Soccer (S. Gomez; 1/9)

Over the break, the boys’ varsity soccer team won the Independence Winter Invitational, by beating Trevor Browne 3-2 in the finals. It was a great collective effort by all players, as the team capped off the best year in program history! Last night, the team continued its winning ways, with an important power point victory over Williams Field 6-1. Five different players scored, once again showing a great team effort! The Boys will open up region play Wednesday here at home against Carl Hayden. Come out and support your Patriots as they look to defend their region title!

La Familia Club (Ms. Figueroa; 1/9- 1/11)

Reminder: There is a mandatory softball meeting this Thursday at 2:45 room 213. Open Field starts up next Wednesday January 17 at 3:00 on the softball field.

Colorguard (Meldrum; 1/10)

Interested in spinning a flag, rifle or sabre?  Join the Independence Spring Colorguard!  There is a meeting today, Wednesday, at 3:15 in the band room.  If you cannot attend, come see Mr. Meldrum in the Band Room.

Interact (Mr. Griffith; 1/10)

 Everyone who is interested in Interact, we will have a meeting on Tuesday, January 16 in Mr. Griffith’s Room right after school.  We will be electing officers and planning our Spring Service Project.  Come join the REVOLUTION!

Elevate I.H.S. (Bolton; Foster; Barrett; 1/10)

Elevate I.H.S. (Surge on Campus) Christian Fellowship Club will begin the 2nd Semester with a “Pot Luck” gathering after school TODAY Wednesday the 10th at 2:45 in Mr. Bolton’s room B-24 for anyone that wants to join us and a special semester kick-off celebration.  ALL current Elevate I.H.S. Christian Fellowship Club members please come and bring a friend along.  See you there and as always, remember that U R Loved!

Art Club ( l. Cramer; 1/10)

Attention art club members …there is a mandatory meeting today at 2:45 in room 233.  We will be discussing this semester’s activities.

Pizza Hut (1/10)

Students, the Patriot Hut is closed this week.  We are preparing for the start of lunch service.  Starting next week, we will be open Tuesday-Friday for BOTH Lunches and after school.  Plus, we’ll continue to open 8:05am on late start Wednesdays.  Beginning Tuesday, you can choose the Patriot Hut for lunch where you’ll be able to get pizza, chicken finger or burritos.  Plan to try it out!

The DECA Club is excited to begin serving warm lunch foods next week at the Patriot Hut.  Starting Tuesday, you’ll be able to buy pizza, chicken fingers and burritos from our service window. New hours will be BOTH lunches and afterschool on Tuesday through Friday, plus before school on late start Wednesdays.

Boys Soccer (S. Gomez; 1/11)

The Boys soccer team started Region play on the right foot, with a 4-1 win over Carl Hayden last night. Jr. Diego Delgado put the Patriots on the board 1st with a great goal. After being tied up, Jr Alexis  Mendoza put the Patriots up for good with a goal. Jr. Enrique Arellano added 2 more goals to complete the scoring. Defenders Senior Osmar Bonilla and Jr Esteban Cabrera played solid defense for the Patriots. The boys are back in action Friday night with rivals Glendale at Glendale. Come out and support your Patriots!!

Girls Soccer (Monaghan; 1/11)

Congrats to the Lady Patriots Soccer team who defeated Carl Hayden last night with a score of 4-0. Great job by the defense for yet another shut out. The entire team played very well and would love to see you Friday night Home against Glendale.

Theatre Club (Farsons; 1/12)

Please come out for the first Theatre Club meeting of 2018, on Tuesday 1/16/18 after school in Ms. Farsons room, starting at 2:45pm. We will be discussing the upcoming Spring Musical, FAME. As well as the events for the rest of the semester. New club members are always welcome, so if you have been thinking about getting involved in Theatre, it’s never too late to start. See you all there!

WEST-MEC (Koole; 1/12- 1/17)

Are you interested in visiting a West-MEC campus? If you want to check out West-MEC’s Northwest Campus and explore Cosmetology, Dental Assisting, IT Security, Law, Public Safety and Security, Medical Assisting, and Vet Sciences, then you’re in luck! We are taking a fieldtrip on the 23rd, so go get your permission slip from the Career Center ASAP.

Hot Chocolate Social (Mr. Kerr; 1/12- 1/16)

Hey photo club members, we are back and ready to kickoff the new year in style. Join us on Tuesday for our annual hot chocolate social and photography share. We will also be making some important announcemens so we hope to see you there!
