MONDAY ANNOUNCEMENTS

 

 

Golf (Astgen; 8/9- 8/14)

Calling all golfers!  The Independence Golf Team is looking for anyone interested in playing golf.  No experience or equipment necessary.  We accept both guys and girls.  If interested please act now!  See Coach Astgen anytime in R-13 for more information.  So grab a friend and come join one of the hottest growing teams on campus.

Driver Ed (St. Pierre; 8/9- 8/25)

Students interested in drivers education can register at the Moon Valley bookstore starting August 14th and the last day for registration is August 30th.  We will have a maximum of 32-36 students per section. The cost is $210 and can be paid for by using 2017 tax credit. Classes will be held at Moon Valley Building 7 room 704.

Patriot Nation (Rux; Gardner, 8/10- 8/15)

Hey Patriots! Would you like to attend Independence events and make new friends? Or do you have tons of school spirit, but don’t know what to do with it? If so, PATRIOT NATION is the club for you! There will be an informational meeting Wednesday, August 16th either before school at 8:30 or after school at 2:45 in R7. If you have any questions see Ms. Rux in R7 or Ms. Gardner in the athletics office.

STUCO (Marshall; 8/14)

Everybody love Barbeque and Shane’s Rib Shack will be here every Monday beginning September 21st to bring you their tasty barbeque. You will have the option to purchase a shredded barbeque sandwich or buffalo chicken strips with chips for $5.00.

Speech and Debate (Mandile; 8/11-8/16)

Do you like to debate in-class, or speaking in front of an audience? Perhaps you are looking to develop your public speaking skills, while also competing and having fun with your friends. If so, we have the club for you. The IHS Speech and Debate Club is looking for new members. We will be having our first meeting on Wednesday, August 16th @ 2:45 in room r-24. Snacks will be provided in a limited amount, so be sure to arrive early.

The Chess Team will be holding practices this Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 2:45-3:45 pm in Room B-24, Coach Bolton’s room.  Please join us to learn more about our upcoming Varsity Chess Season and how you can be a part of it!  Remember that Chess is the ONLY Varsity Sport that you can earn a Varsity Letter in without breaking a sweat, playing with a ball or birdie, or getting hit by anyone, so stop by B-24 after school THIS week!

Visual Arts Department (Cramer; 8/18)

The Visual Arts Department is proud to announce the highlighted artist for August is Kristian Acosta. Kristian is an AP Art student who has incredible natural talent, has a strong work ethic and strives to challenge himself. For the past three years, Kristian has worked very hard to create high quality work in his assignments. He has an eye for detail, excellent craftsmanship and will work on a piece until it is near perfect. Kristian is an artist who has the drive to become better and always goes beyond in his work. Congratulations to Kristian Acosta! The Visual Arts Department is excited to see what you will create for your AP portfolio in your senior year.
