Free Heart Screening (Fitzgerald; 9/16)

Anthony Bates Foundation is sponsoring a FREE heart screening event in our  area.  Anthony was a 20 year old football player at Kansas State University when he died unexpectedly from an enlarged heart, the leading killer of young athletes.  Early detection could have prevented his death, but although he had over 25 pre-participation physicals, heart exams were not required.

The Anthony Bates Foundation and 100+ Women Who Care are hosting a free heart screening event Saturday October 1st, 2016 at Peoria High School from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.  Doctors will perform for free the normally $1,250 echocardiogram, a $500 Electrocardiogram (EKG) with a physician review.  A tax deductible donation of $40 helps ensure this program continues for Arizona families, but is not required.

Chess Team (Bolton; 9/16)

The Chess Team wants to give a special shout out to ALL of the fabulous Independence admin, faculty, and staff that have supported the team by buying Jamba Juice BOGO Cards!  Mr. Bolton wants to express his sincere appreciation for the true team effort and to let everyone know that if you’re still interested in a Jamba Juice BOGO Card, please email him to get yours for only $10.  Good luck Chess Team tomorrow at Trevor Browne and remember to “storm the castle!”
